Before changing their name (and line-up) to form the modern death/thrash titan Deathchain, Winterwolf was just another little-known band playing a combination of old school death and thrash metal with only a handful of demos to their credit. Corpse, the founding member of Winterwolf and Deathchain, the ex-vocalist of De Lirium's Order, as well as the bassist of death metal legend Demilich, decided to reform the band in 2006, recruiting Undertaker (Deathchain) and Insane and Pestilence (of De Lirium's Order). During the making of Cycle of the Werewolf, Antti Boman (vocals/guitar of Demilich) and Rotten (ex-vocalist of Deathchain) joined the band, resulting in Corpse relinquishing vocal duties to them. Simply put, Winterwolf is Deathchain's best version of themselves and Cycle of the Werewolf is the only worthwhile effort any member of Deathchain has put forth since 2005. For those who've heard and loved Demilich, Deathchain, and/or De Lirium's Order, the word "retard" gets thrown around a lot these days but suffice it to say, I'd be entirely justified in calling you one if you ignored this. When it comes down to it, you're fucking kidding yourself if you think you don't need Cycle of the Werewolf.

A note about the release date: most sites have this as a 2009 release because this was available only as a vinyl LP until earlier this year and as such, I'm treating this a 2010 release because I refuse to believe that I somehow missed this last year.
Also, the final track is a cover of Bolt Thrower's "Cenotaph", as if you needed any more reasons to check this out.
